How this all started
in 2019

(short version of course)

Hello Friends of Roots & Refuge Farm…I am so excited to share this amazing opportunity of sharing these Free Seeds with you for the 2024 garden season.

I am Michelle and I live in the Northwestern suburbs of Chicago.  Grow Zone 5b.  In the fall of 2019 I was searching for what my Earthly purpose was through prayer and fasting.  After several weeks and a lot of patience and obedience, I heard the voice of God tell me to “grow food and feed people ”!!.  Without any knowledge on how to do that or what that even meant, I started a search on google to teach myself how to get started. And wouldn’t you know it……? Our Jess’s lil headband wearing, tattoo displaying, tomato plant growing “garden girl” videos popped up on YT.  I’ve been learning and I have been hooked ever since.  So, with some research and prayerful guidance, I just did it!!! I got to it by growing seedlings, plants, flowers and all the things.  Then a light bulb went off….  I wanted to raise funds to help me grow food for our community. At this time I only had a small 40’ x 40’ growing space.   After wise council, I really got it together by setting up and creating my non-profit called Glory Gardens.   I now grow here locally in Chicagoland  with  just under 2 acres of growing space at my church property. This is where we  grow several vegetable gardens exclusively to donate to 3 of my local food pantries.  As well as share the space with local neighborhood families that want to enjoy growing their own food also.

With the help of over 25 volunteers through my NFP and through my church, we were able to harvest over 7200 lbs of food this 2023 season. (10,800lbs to date starting from the 2020 season) I still can’t believe it.

I have built amazing relationships with local nurseries and Big Box Stores that have been so very supportive.  Home Depot, Lowes, Menards and Farm and Fleet were all donors of these 7900+ seed packets.  I know the Lord has blessed me with these seeds as he knows I have the means and lovely communities like this one to get them into the hands of the people that WANT TO GROW THEM….  So, here we are.

I have no idea what the response will be for this give-a-way on this FB page.  I just wanted to share the provisions that were shared with me.  I hope these seeds get into the growing hands of families that have the desire to plant and nurture them.  I hope they get in the hands of people that can not afford to buy 10-20 packets of seeds at a big box store right now. Or I hope there are some varieties you have never tried before.  If you are in a position to buy your own seeds, please still partake in this give-a-way and share them with friends.  This is my blessing to share with all of you in this community that has been so indirectly helpful and supportive here AND in the comments on YT.  I am so very grateful for Jess and Miah for their YouTube channel because it has made me into a garden fanatic that the Lord wanted me to be. I just want to share the goodness of God and his provisions with all of you.

Any questions please reach out to me via Facebook direct message or text me at 630-318-0214.

All these seed packets were on the store shelves for the 2023 season.  I know the packets range from $1.79-$3.59+ depending on the variety/brand..

They have been counted, sorted and stored by my wonderful team of volunteers that have been with me since 2019.  They will help me fill these orders between Feb 12- 29.  Depending on the demand, we will get them out to you asap.  I do have 1 regret. I will not get to actually meet you in person.  That makes my heart sad.  But I know I will still feel the love and the support from you all by your responce.

All we do is for HIS glory…

Blessings and Be Well,

Michelle
