How this all started
in 2019

(short version of course)

Hello Local Gardeners,

My name is  Michelle and I am so excited to share with you this amazing seed collection that was donated to me this past fall.  This will be my 2nd Annual Free Seed Swap.  Last year I hosted this event at my Church, Ginger Creek Community Church in Aurora.   Currently I live in Batavia where I founded Glory Gardens Non-Profit.  In the fall of 2019 I was searching for what my Earthly purpose was here on Earth and through prayer and fasting I heard my calling. “Grow Food-Feed People”!!!  Those were the words that fell on my ears and heart.  So, with some research and prayerful guidance, I just did it!!! I got to it by growing seedlings, plants, flowers and all the things. So in the spring of 2019, I started to design and set up gardens and grow food for our local food pantries. Then a light bulb went off….  I could raise funds to help us grow food for our community and did so through Glory Gardens.  At this time I only had a small 40’ x 40’ growing space.   Through my church and Non-Profit I gathered many volunteers with minded giving hearts that help me create these large growing spaces.

We grow here locally in the Fox River Valley  with  just under 2 acres of growing space.   We have 4 large gardens in the surrounding area. This is where we  grow several vegetable gardens exclusively to donate to 3 of my local food pantries.  As well as share the space with local neighborhood families that want to enjoy growing their own food also.

In 2023 we were able to harvest over 7200 lbs of food this 2023 season. (10,800lbs to date starting from the 2019 season) I still can’t believe it.

Through Glory Gardens, I have built amazing relationships with local nurseries and Big Box Stores that have been so very supportive.  Home Depot, Lowes, Menards, Tractor Supply, Rural King and Farm and Fleet were all donors of these 7900+ seed packets.  I know the Lord has blessed me with these seeds as he knows I have the means and lovely communities like this one to get them into the hands of the people that WANT TO GROW THEM….  So, here we are.

I have no idea what the response or impact this year’s event will bring, however I just want to share the provisions that were bestowed upon me.   With the blessing of these seeds, we hope they will  get into the growing hands of families that have the desire to plant and nurture them.  We hope they get in the hands of people that can not afford to buy 10-20 packets of seeds at a big box store right now. Or we hope there are some varieties you have never tried before.  If you are in a position to buy your own seeds, please still partake in this give-a-way and share them with friends.  This is my blessing to share with all of you in this community.  I just want to share the goodness of God and his provisions with all of you.

Any questions please reach out to me via Facebook direct message or text me at 630-318-0214.

All these seed packets were on the store shelves for the 2023 season. Some people have come forward and donated seeds for the event also.  This is so very kind.  We will also have a free drawing for some really great prizes.

All of the seeds have been counted, sorted and stored by my wonderful team of volunteers that have been with me since 2019. You will see a lot of their faces on March 23rd. PLEASE SHARE THIS EVENT WITH YOUR FRIENDS

If you would like to donate some seeds, message me for drop off location by March 20, 2023.
